Renee Alice Ballard

18. Runaway. Waitress. Alone.
Can anybody see me?..
This is a girl who takes no pleasure in making her home in Ashford, when the place holds such bitter memories- but it is a necessary evil.
Renee Ballard, born Alice Reves, a former high school drop-out and teen runaway with a mission. Her 'education' was taken into her own hands after her father and brother were killed in some sort of accident that went above and beyond the ordinary- and all near a little town called Ashford.
She took her money and left her old life behind- including her mother living in the United States- and taught herself how to hide. She took a new name, and 'Alice Reves' became just another number on a missing persons list. So began the hunt for all she could find on oddities surrounding Ashford, and after two years, she has still only scratched the surface. When archives and interviews could only take her so far, there seemed to be only one road left- to go to the source herself. But she's only human, armed with only a vague idea of the monsters that live there. It may be only a matter of time before she's in over her head- or is it too late already?
You're exactly what I wasn't looking for...
Renee is a bit of a loner- she's been alone a long time, and trusts no one in this new life. She depends on herself, and tends to have a skewed view of even the nicest of people unless given concrete evidence that they mean her no harm, and will not interfere. With the way she's been sticking her nose where she shouldn't, she's more likely to have some enemies than friends, though she may not know it yet.
If someone is persistent in trying to befriend her, they may make some process, but her focus is on gathering information, not making buddies- and in a game where everyone's a stranger, and everyone's a suspect, trusting can be a very dangerous thing, so she takes all interactions with a grain of salt.
In the end, love comes dead last. Her parents were reclusive people, and it rubbed off on her a bit. She used to have friends and dating prospects when she went to school, but that was all in the past. Her love life never really progressed anyhow, and while that may bother her from time to time- missing that 'other piece' to who she is can be a hard thing to overcome- chasing legends doesn't leave much time to dwell on it, although now that's she's found a place to firmly settle and must simply watch and wait, it may be harder to ignore.
Family:
Duncan Reves {Brother}{Presumed dead}
Gregory Reves {Father}{Deceased}
Carroll Reves {Mother}{Estranged}
Friends:---
Enemies:---
What a time to pick a fight...
At the moment Renee has no objective other than to try and find out what could have happened to her brother- it may come in handy to know that her father's body was discovered in his car disemboweled. Luckily his upper half was intact, so she wasn't needed to identify more than the contents of his wallet when the police found him. Her brother was never found- she wants closure, to know what happened to him for certain, though the police report states that whatever animal must have attacked her father after he crashed probably took the unconscious Duncan and disposed of him.
This is where it gets trickier, since Renee has yet to discover why they were out by Ashford in the first place when she her dad had simply gone to pick Duncan up from a friend's place in London. Personally I think it would be fun to take advantage of some of the villain in her father- the story goes that Carroll (Cara) Reves had an affair with a werewolf- whether she knew what her lover was is unknown. Of course the child came out human, but he was never meant to grow up that way. Gregory Reves intervened, and Duncan was raised with his half-sister Renee, neither of them aware that werewolves were real. Now, Gregory had offended one of the dominant werewolf families a long time ago- and in a moment of cowardice, he decided to give up his 'son' in exchange for insurance for his own life, having been told that Duncan would be unharmed. That was why he was out in Ashford that night, but things didn't go as he'd planned.
All of this remains a mystery to Renee for now, but for the sake of plotting, any werewolf of Ashford is welcome to know the story. Let me know if you want a part of it- there are things to be solved if anyone wants in, things like finding out which wolf killed her father, or what he owed to a werewolf family in the first place- or even a wolf taunting her sad little human experience, if you'd like. So go on, plot? c:
