[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,399,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] | [bg=393939]If it was one thing that didn’t make any since what so ever, was that it took two long and hard months in a hospital to make sure she was back to good health, wounds healed, and an over-bearing sister and boyfriend who would constantly make sure she healed properly. It wasn’t that she didn’t appreciate what the two of them would do for her, but now she sort of found what it probably felt like for Maddison, being on the other side with the over-protective sister, and frankly it wasn’t fun. But just knowing that two months had already gone by since the incident with Maddison’s foster brother, she was finally out of the hospital and back to work, which was what she needed more than anything.
“Um, Vivian. You’ve got another letter here from that guy…” The words that came from her old partner that got reassigned couldn’t help but make the hybrid shudder. Just the thought of the letters and emails that had come from the same person since the deal with Isaac, and Vivian Rivers knew exactly who it was that was trying to contact her with threats to not only her life but those she loved, and it wasn’t like she had much of a choice to take action. Not only was it someone she knew, but someone whom had hated her since the day she was born, the one man in her life she hated now that her own father was dead. His father. Johnathan Rivers. Her grandfather.
Now it wasn’t every day you get death threats from your grandfather, normally they will sit down with you sweetly and have one of those conversations that start with them telling you about when it was back when they were young. No. Not with her father’s side of the family. And not only was he a big figure back in Norfolk, he was the Police Captain at the department, so yeah, he could get away with this sort of thing, and both of them knew it. However, the thought of how not only her sister, whom had never once met the man, and her boyfriend would react, Vivian had kept it hidden to herself.
However, the last letter she had gotten just that day was one that hurt her worse. “I know where you are, I have people waiting for my orders to have you shot on the street, that is unless you’d like to think you could take me. I thought your father how to protect himself, seems you got that gene. If I need to I will track down every contact you’ve ever had and have them dead within the next week.” Just the thought of those words, every contact, made Vivian think back to her childhood days when she met a very nice woman named Allison back in Virginia before she got taken to California. The thought of her hearing about the woman’s death being a murder would make Vivian feel so much worse. “You can’t blame yourself for something like that, it would be Johnathan’s fault not yours.” Just shut up Gwyn, I just don’t think I can take this much longer. It’s not like I can go and kill him or report him. He’s a fucking captain with contacts! I’d be sent to jail in a matter of days!
The tiger just huffed as the light turned red and Vivian slowed the car down, her thoughts going straight back to the letters and threats, wondering if he was right, if he actually did have people in the city, looking for her. She thought of Maddison and wished it wouldn’t get to that, the woman could take care of herself, but not when she had nothing to do with what their grandfather blamed her for. Her thoughts wandered as the light turned green and her car weaved through the streets before pulling into the driveway of her house. All seemed quite but she knew that could change in a matter of moments, but what caught Vivian more in surprise was the tears that had been streaming down her face and she hadn’t even noticed it.
She figured the thoughts of Maddison getting hurt because of her not only made her angry but upset, what could she do against her grandfather if she couldn’t even stand her own against a drug lord? Not much that she could think of. Yet, just the thought of her own twin sister getting hurt because of her, that just wasn’t going to cut it, and to her mind, the less people knew, the better, the less Derek knew… “You can’t keep it from him, Vivian, he cares about you, and you know that.” I know, I know, but still, he could understand that…
She didn’t think about it anymore than that before she opened the door to her Dodge truck and made her way to the door, her eyes still puffed up red because of the tears on her way home before shutting the door just a little louder than she wanted to and made her way to the bedroom. Not wanting to get upset with him over this, she closed the door as quietly as she could, which in her state wasn’t that silent before falling on the bed and dug her face into the pillow at the front of the bed, trying her hardest not to move, wishing the pain of this and her hands would go away as soon as possible.
