The night was silent as the full moon shone brightly overhead. Nothing made a sound, even the birds were silent. Fog wrapped around the trunks of every tree, swirling slowly in the moonlight. Suddenly, a sound echoed through the silent forest. The ripping of fabric undisguised. The savage snarl of a wolf sounded, followed by a deep, threatening howl. A midnight black wolf stood in the center of a clearing, his muzzle raised as his howl grew louder and louder, filling the entire forest with its sorrowful sound. The wolf howled every night, howling for the death of his parents, for the death of sister, for his own pitiful life. Finally, his howl started to sink back into him. Slowly fading. He lowered his muzzle and let his head droop as he drifted into his thoughts. He shook his head as if shaking water off of it. His amber eyes blazed with an unidentifiable emotion that he didn't even know himself. Pain? Anger? Hatred? He couldn't figure it out as he lunged into the trees at impressive speed, leaving his shredded clothes behind. As he ran, feeling free with the wind dancing through his black fur, he thought again of Mikayla.
